Arbor day Tree Dedication for Fallen Officers Sean Clark & Jeff Shelton at eastway Specialty Park. Charlotte also won the "Tree City USA" award for the 30th consecutive year

The Life & Times of Amity Gardens

Amity Gardens Shopping Center was developed in 1958. It began as a prominent strip mall along Charlotte's once bustling retail corridor, Independence Blvd. After the 2nd phase of the conversion to expressway Amity Gardens struggled to stay alive. It's final tenant Harbor freight Tools relocated in Feb 2010. Demolition of the site is now underway for a new Wal-Mart

Eastway Park Playground Build

On May 1st 2010. The Parks and Recreation Dept. and residents of east Charlotte participated in a community Playground construction project at Eastway Specialty Park.
