March 19
- The
Economic Development Committee met to review the transistional
setback on Independence Blvd.
E.D. staff proposed a road approxiamtely 16 lanes wide
and twice the width of the existing already widened
road. Recommended a reduction of the transitional setback
from 350ft to 250 -280ft. This would not allow for reasonable
redevelopment. Chairman John Lassiter said plan was
unrealistic and if the widening proposal was feasible
at all, would not be posible until 2050 simply due to
financial constraints. John Lassiter also indicated
this threatens the Wal-Mart development at Amity Gardens.
